James Boyd and Andy Rice set up London-based consultancy Sailing Intelligence in 2004. As well as producing much of the ideas and content for clients of Sailing Intelligence, they draw on an international network of journalists, PR consultants, photographers and specialist translators to get work done quickly and effectively, wherever the job may be.
James is best known as the publisher of highly respected website, The Daily Sail. This is the only subscription-based website serving the sailing world, and is well respected as the leading source of authoritative news and comment on the yacht racing scene.
Prior to launching The Daily Sail in 2002, James worked in print journalism, leaving his job as Assistant Editor of Yachting World magazine, where he worked for the best part of 10 years. He continues to write articles for specialist magazines such as Boat International, Sailing World in the US and Yachting World in the UK, as well as occasional contributions to newspapers such as the Daily Telegraph.
Aside from being a successful yachtsman with European and National titles to his name in various types of racing boat, Andy Rice (pictured centre) started his career in yachting journalism in 1992 writing for Seahorse Magazine before moving into copywriting, specialising in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. After editing UK-based magazine Pharmaceutical Marketing, Andy decided to go back to his roots and return to the sailing and marine world, working as a journalist and copywriter for many different clients and magazines. In between his Sailing Intelligence commitments, he still manages to write regular columns for Seahorse, ShowBoats International, Yachts & Yachting and Boat International. Andy also runs a ‘how-to’ advice and information site for keen sailors, SailJuice.com.
Sailing Intelligence calls on a number of specialist writers, PR consultants and translators to work with our clients, depending on the requirements. Our team includes national newspaper columnists, award-winning PR experts and marine journalists based in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
